Our Heart for Missions.

Missions has always been an important part of our church life.  Several members of our congregation have gone on short-term outreaches, and two of our members are presently serving the Lord with Youth With A Mission.
In 1983 the Lord stirred Pastor Beverly's heart about helping the poor and needy when she heard about the people who live on the garbage dump in Manila, Philippines.  As a result, she began to seek the Lord for creative ways to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  The outcome has been many projects throughout the year - making quilts to send to homeless and orphans in Mexico, packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, preparing gifts of toys, clothing and candy for orphanages in Mexico, and helping many ministries with finances.
As a congregation, we have adopted a soldier in Iraq to whom we send letters and care packages.  We are reaching out to wounded soldiers by making blankets for them.
During the summer months, we have a garage sale at the Mission House, located across the street from the church.  Donations are accepted for this, and all proceeds are used to advance the Kingdom of God through missions.
There are many different ways that you can be involved in our missions projects.  We take donations of small toys, hygiene products, sewing supplies (thread, needles, safety pins), blankets, fabric, etc. and finances.  You can also pray for the orphans and soldiers.  On Tuesday and Thursday mornings there is also opportunity to join with others to sew blankets, make sewing kits, and be involved with whatever the current project is.  For more details, call the church office at (218) 732-7000.
